Can't believe we missed the month of Septmber without a blog post. we actually did a lot things, but never get around to put it into words. we went to National Zoo, Camping, Bowlings, XX's discovery music class, mommy naturalization's event and her new church calling. Too much to tell, too lazy to write. Enjoy the pics:)
David's finally done with his proposal!!!! Horray! Good Job, David! For the whole summer, he was gone at 8am and didn't come home until 10pm. It's so nice to have my husband back :)! We took a little vacation to Virginia Beach to celebrate that this long lasting exam is finally over; well, at least for now.
We wanted to go to the beach so badly. We miss Hawaii so much. We were actually thinking about going to Hawaii at first but of course, it didn't happen. We still had a blast at Virginia Beach! It was so relaxing, highly recommended!!!!! We stayed at the Sheraton and though we had mixed feelings toward this hotel, the beachfront location was great. It only took us 2 mins to go to the beach. However, everything else about the hotel was mediocre- staff, room, service...etc. It looks like a Sheraton on the outside, but it was really just a motel on the inside.
We really didn't do much which is exactly what we had planned all along. Our schedule for the five days was: wake up, go to the beach, eat lunch, take a nap, sit by the pool, eat some more, walk on the boardwalk, put XX to sleep and finish my Twilight series.
One interesting thing we noticed was that XX sleep-plays sometimes. She would suddenly wake up in her crib with her eyes open, rearrange her stuffed animals and her blanket, and then go back to sleep again.
We were happy to experience more of the Atlantic Ocean at a lazy beach town. It was exactly what we needed to getaway from things.
Our anniversary is actually on sunday Aug 16, but we usually celebrate with Dave's birthday together ( aug 14). That's why I am typing now.....
David, Happy Birthday and our 4th Anniversary!!!!!!! Here is little something that I made for you. And now, you why you were listening to the same songs every night for the past month. I hope you like. Sorry you are sick on your birthday, I hope you will still enjoy the ball game tomorrow and get well soon. XX and I always love you ! :) P.s. Special thank to Abbey, Da and Rose again ( you know why...hahaha)
August is a month full of grandeur in this household; our birthdays and anniversary are all in August. For the past 3 years, we travelled in celebration of our big events. This summer, Dave needed to study for his qualify exam so we decided to stay in Maryland. Since I never miss an opportunity to party, I threw a beach BBQ-Hotpot hybrid party at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay. When was the last time you had hot pot at the beach? Maybe.....never?! But I did it! Hot pot at the beach was a huge success!!! I know, I have crazy ideas sometimes. We had a lot of fun!!!! Thank you Zhaos and Browns for coming!
XX is obsessed with round objects these days. She calls everything round "ball." Here, she thought the watermelon was a ball too.
After playing with Mark and Bev's iPhones, I fell in love with iPhone apps (I am hooked on Sally's Spa:)). But since I am happy with my Blackberry Bold, there is no point in getting another phone. So iPhone minus the phone = iTouch!
After we got back from Seattle in June, I've been looking for a good deal for an iTouch. I have also been dropping hints here and there to Dave, in hopes of getting one for my birthday. Well, I didn't tell him exactly what I wanted, but I did make a big deal once about how he didn't help me find a good deal for an iTouch which, in turn meant that he didn't care about what I wanted. (Yeah, my hormones are inbalanced sometimes, even when I am not pregnant).
The Saturday before my birthday, we were planning to go to the county's annual farm harvest fair. XX was taking a nap and I was getting ready in the bathroom. I heard her talking, so I finished up quickly and went to her room. The door was locked. I knocked, Dave was inside and told me to wait. I thought that Dave was dressing XX up in some funny clothes again. When the door finally opened, XX walked out toward me wearing her panda backpack, with the Apple commerial music playing (see video). At that moment, I knew something was up. The funny part was that XX went back to the room after she walked halfway to me, probably because the bag was too heavy and so she was having a hard time walking. Eventually, she managed to deliver the package to me. In her panda backpack, I found my birthday wish (iTouch), along with something better--something I never thought of but always wanted--a MacBook Pro!!!! I was astonished, elated, and ecstatic all at the same time. And now, I am a Mac and Dave is a PC.
Thank you Dave, XX, and all my friends for the love and birthday wishes that I received. I had a wonderful wonderful birthday.
When I uploaded pics to my computer, I realized there are 830 pics (just July 09) waiting for me to go through and put it up. This is what happen what you use digital camera. Dave actually wants a bigger SD card than what we have right now, can't imagine what gonna happen then. My problem is I know I am not good at taking pics so I took tons and hoping I eventually can get one that is good.
In these 830 pics, we've been to the Zoo, picnic with the Fugals on July 4th, took XX to the beach for the first time, Auntie Ro(se)'s visit and visit farm animals. It's very a fulfilling month!
Joining mom's club has been on my to-do list since XX was born. I don't know why it took so long, but I finally did it.:) We had our first activity last Thursday and XX and I both had so much fun. We are no longer just stuck with each other in the house but now we have friends that live close by! We were planning to meet at the park, but since the temp. was up in the 90s. (at least felt like it), we changed our plan to Krispy Kreme instead to watch donut making. Too bad they didn't turn the machine on when we were there. XX also had her first donut but she had no idea how to eat it. She just stared at hers while all the other kids already finished theirs.
Doesn't she look cute with the Krispy Kreme hat ?! XX is a clean freak - she freaked out when the glaze got on her fingers, she insisted on having her hands cleaned after every bite. That's why we are still feeding her. It would take so much longer for her to feed herself. I really don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing?!
Charlotte has been using Johnson's Lavender Baby Wash since she was born. We tried many other brands but because of her sensitive skin, this was the only one that worked well on her (no idea why, just is). I like the lavender smell, but I never really believed that it would actually help XX sleep better (as claimed on the bottle). However, I proved myself wrong. One afternoon, Dave came home after studying to get ready to go to tutoring. I had 15 mins to take a shower before he took off again. I realize we were out of soap after I jumped into the shower so I used XX's lavender baby wash instead (not a big deal, right?! It's all soap.) I got out of the shower and started playing with XX so that Dave could change for work. By the time he finished changing (about 5-10 min), I almost passed out on the coach; my eyelids were too heavy for me to bear. When Dave kissed me goodbye, I couldn't respond at all. It was bad!!!! I wasn't totally asleep because XX was still around but I couldn't move at all. Somehow, I managed to turn on Sesame Street for XX so that I could have an hour to rest, but I felt so bad afterward though. Even though my mind was awake the whole time (I could hear XX and the TV), my body was asleep. I know XX tried to wake me up so many times-- she sat on my head a few times, kept saying hi to me and asked me to play with her. And it didn't just happen to me. I gave our friend Abbey a bottle of Johnson's Lavender Baby Oil to clean her baby's cradle cap and the same thing happened to her! Johnson and Johnson should really put a warning label on their bottle: product may cause drowsiness.
Can't believe it's a year already! Last time we went to strawberry picking when XX was only 4 months old, she just sat in the sling and let me carry her around. And now, she is already bossed us around, tell us where to go get strawberries and refused to leave unless we gave her a share of the harvest. Last year:
This year:
She can pick it all by herself
p.s. See if you can crop out the asian dude's big butt, 'cause I can't.
Just like we did last year, this year we spent our Memorial weekend in NY visiting Auntie Rosie and eating tons of food! I love the Chinese food there - it is so authentic! Thank you Rose for letting us stay with you and mess up your apartment. Besides eating, Rose took us to an acupressure clinic in Chinatown for some foot reflexology and a massage. It was AMAZING!!! What they did was very similiar to the massage in China and the price was fairly cheap compared to a regular spa massage. I was even more amazed at how well Charlotte behaved. She waited an hour for us without any fuss or complaints. She didn't even ask to let her walk around or do anything. She just sat on our laps for an hour. I finally realized we are lucky parents, what more can we ask for? Dave hold Charlotte for the first half hr when I got my back massage Now is my turn she even smiles for mommy
Elaine and I were mission companions for just 10 days, but she has become part of my life eversince. She came to visit us 6 months ago, and she is back! Charlotte and her have become the best buddy ever, she totally ignore me when Elaine is around. Of course, I also enjoy having Elaine's company especially when we are shopping. haha. Elaine refused to be called auntie, so we taught Charlotte to called her E E Je Je. Walking around D.C.
we went to Spike's (one of the contestants from Top Chef ) burger place.
Making Takoyaki ( Octopus Ball) for the first time. I don't recall how the convo started, just out of the blue, I showed Elaine I got this Takoyaki grill plate as christams present last yr and all the sudden, we both wanted to give it a try. Am I a Pro or what? not bad huh?! we also recorded the whole making process, I will post it later.
And of course, we can't miss the memorial day weekend( whole week) sale
